Community comes together for two-way science.

On Friday 13th June, we welcomed community members to Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School for an open consultation and yarn

Elders and younger generations came together to share their knowledge of Boodja and what holds meaning for them. This gathering was guided by a simple but powerful goal:
“Teach us how to teach your culture.”

At Djidi Djidi, we are committed to becoming more culturally responsive in our practice and to ensuring our students grow up proud and strong in their identity.

Our focus during the consultation was on four key areas of cultural knowledge:

Through conversation, storytelling and shared wisdom, our community helped guide the way forward for cultural learning. The groups shared knowledge, memories and practices- some passed down through generations.

The afternoon was topped off with a sausage sizzle and lots of laughter. It was a beautiful reminder that true learning happens through connection, respect, and yarns shared around a table.

We are so grateful to everyone who came, and we look forward to continuing to walk this path together, side by side, for our children, and for the strength of culture on Boodja.
