Sorry Day Assembly
On Tuesday 26th May our Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School community gathered on Wardandi Boodja for a Sorry Day assembly, held outside in front of our Sorry Day memorial wall.
Yongka Class led the assembly with heartfelt strength and pride, sharing powerful poems they had written and read aloud, each one a reminder of truth, resilience, and the importance of listening and learning.
We were honoured to hear from Nanna Shirley, who generously shared her personal story as a member of the Stolen Generations. Her courage, wisdom and lived experience gave us all a deeper understanding of why days like today matter.
The assembly also recognised the efforts and achievements of our students with the presentation of class merit awards. We are so proud of our koolangkas.
As we continue our journey of truth-telling, healing, and learning, we say with respect and sincerity:
We are sorry.
We remember.
We walk together.
